I don't know if this is related, but I heard the Coast Guard giving instructions to the Helo for landing at Foote Hosp., which I think is in Jackson.

Small Plane Crashes In Jackson County
Cause Of Incident Under Investigation

POSTED: 10:41 am EST January 24, 2006

A small plane went down in a wooded area of Leoni Township in Jackson County Tuesday morning, Local 4 reported.

The pilot of the Piper Saratoga plane was injured in the crash landing, which occurred near Dunn Road just after 10 a.m., according to the Jackson County Sheriff's Department. It is believed the pilot was the only person on board.

The man was transported to a hospital with injuries that did not appear to be life-threatening, Local 4 learned.

The plane may have experienced engine trouble, according to the sheriff's department. Snow flurries were reported in the area at the time of the crash; however, it is not known if weather played a role.

The cause of the incident remains under investigation.

From what I read over FNNM the USCG chopper was responsible for transport. Again, an airplane couldn't have landed on the scene.

Here's the flight path: http://flightaware.com/live/flight/N3946W
