More FYI--Antennas are beginning to be installed at the different Public Safety sites thru - out Ingham County. Things are slowly coming together. The present start-up date to have the system on-line is April.

Boy, dont just love the purchasing power of 'free' government money?
Inghams system isnt even off the ground, yet Eaton County has bought EDACS capable rigs for 'most' deputies and all FD's that neighbor Ingham county.
(Since Eaton is UHF, they can use them conventionally also)
Just amazes me the sheep mentality sometimes...
<leaving now to purchase Ma/Comm stock>

Isn't this what we discussed a few months ago - the Feds gave the money for Eaton Co radios & Clinton Co interface? One would think that's a good thing ;>

I wonder if Eaton County will expand the EDACS TRS to their county and just add a few frequency pairs in the future?

John, we havent gotten our radios yet, and I hope we do soon. I found one VHF radio in our tanker totally in-operable. If we get a structure fire in Ingham county (Mason, Onondaga, etc) we really dont have any good way to communicate with them. and yes I know the system is not in place yet, but were just sitting waiting and hoping we dont get a fire there.

Well, it was all with the COPS grant from what I heard. I didnt ask further, but it was pretty solid info.
We dont neighbor Ingham, so it's neither here or there for me. With the new call and tac channels being implemented, we'll all have mutual aid channels no matter where we go soon enuff.

Good, right now its hard enough for us to get Eaton Co. disaster programmed into our radios. we're waiting for the chief to decide.

Rob,
Eaton is looking at a few 'new' freqs. One is the tri-county mutual aide fire channel based at Delta fire. It's been operational for some time and is in the database already.
The next is new call and tac channels. Basically, all vhf/uhf/800 depts will have available to them 4 to 5 common frequencies. The idea is, my uhf UCall and UTAC1 UTAC2 and UTAC3 will be the same as any other UHF licensed emergency agency. From what I'm told, these are narrowband channels, no pl tones, and no power restrictions other than no base units. Eaton County, once complete with their dispatch upgrade will have a 'blackbox' unit that can then tie UTAC1 with the comparible frequency on vhf and or 800mhz.
Theory is, we all get to the scene, dial tac 1 or 2 or 3, and like magic we can all communicate.
The 'call' channel in each band can have base stations under some circumstances (currently unknown).
Lastly, the Admin channel listed for Eaton county is also a mutual aide channel, but it's use administratively is slowly taking that option away.

I would like to know what the DCS or PL code is for the Fire Aid channel. I am also wondering if the intent is to have it be used for the north half of Eaton and Ingham counties, and southern Clinton County, If the repeater is only on the Delta Twp. tower.
