Default Detroit PD Question

Anyone know who DPD's "COBRA" units are ? Heard them the other night when they had those late night shootings. Obviously they're a specialized group, but what do they specialize in ? They were using the regular dispatch tg's.

COBRA are plain clothed patrol units assinged to districts (precincts) hence the dispatching on district tgid's, TIGER units are 2 or 3 COBRAS with a uniformed SAM or LINCOLN (Sgt./Lt.) in one cruiser...Western Cobra Sam 6 Is a plain clothed Sgt assinged to Western District.

Not true. Cobra units is a different name for the 30 series cars, they had to come up with a code for these crews. instead of 8-30, it is now Northwest cobra 30 they are in plain clothes and plain car and if they are inservice they are answering priority runs only. Reco, was a uniformed car responsible for answering poilice runs where ever they are backed up. Even number reco units were westside and odd number reco units were east side. Doesnt really matter now since reco has been gone for over 5 years. Tiger units are 3 to 4 person plain car with 1 sgt on board, and 1 officer in full uniform. The big 3 concept if you can call it that.
