Default C.O.M.E.T. Macomb County 39.62MHz

Anyone hearing any activity on 39.62MHz? It's supposed to be C.O.M.E.T. Macomb County. Currently I have an RS800 (800MHz rubber duck) antenna on by scanner...the worst antenna in the world for 39.62MHz, so I'm only getting a carrier with a lot of static.

I know, that's why I thought it was a bit unusual. Maybe someone picked up some old radios off of eBay and they're playing with them.

Ive heard some survailance activity on thier 39.xx freqs. They are VERY low power, I could barely hear them across my neighborhood when they were doing drug busts.

Default 39.620 and 37.900

Are there still antennas on the vehicles for these bands?
Or do you think these are handhelds being used inside vehicles?

Although many of the cities and townships just go ahead and renew the licenses when they come up, I didn't think ANY police or fire was still actually using freqs that low anywhere in Metro Detroit.

This MAY be strickly communications at one location, like a DPW yard or a city hall. Curious if you only hear it during normal working hours. One city downriver did that for a while, used old lowband (I can't even remember what the freq was, somewhere in the 42-46 mhz range) mhz handie talkies to keep track of each other inside the buildings, after the parks and recreation went to 423 mhz.

Could also be communications at a parade or a high school football game. Old radios don't always get tossed, they just get handed down.

Probably some cops borrowed them to use while deer hunting!

Cool Antenna on cars

The cares that I have been in contact with that still use this frequency use the "disguise" antenna. There is a box in the trunk to tune the antenna to the right band.

Default 39.???

I have heard clinton twp. ( i am pretty sure ) on 39.xxx doing some surveillance about 2 weeks ago, very close to me.. i would have to guess handhelds- low power, low range. but that is all they need. if you have the radios, and have the license, why not use them..

They're probably thinking not too many people scan those bands these days either!
