Default Skip Traffic 11/22-23

Ok guys and gals,

So here in southeast lower michigan there has been a MAJOR band opening. Is anyone else hearing anything? I have not seen anything posted anywhere. From my shack here, been hearing Indiana state police both on VHF and the Hoosier system. Been hearing ohio, indiana, illinois, and penn on VHF. Just about every frequency that I passed had someone on it!!!!

It has been a long time since I have seen and opening like this....

BTW...as of this post I am listening to Chicago Fire Department on 159.090, thanks thunderbolt for the find!!!!!

and 154.370 and 154.415 I was listening to some southern Police/Fire interferring with our FD's here.

Lots of skip. I'm even picking it up on my pager.

I had a hard time trying to talk on 154.37 today beacuse of all the activity.

155.13 has some distant police traffic. Don't know where it is from.

Sitting here listening to crawford county fire dispatch for unknown state, on 460.625. Interesting stuff, thought it was michigan at first, but they are listed as VHF.
Still browsing maps to see if I can pinpoint calls.
--------
I believe from call locations it's wisconsin, either crawford or vernon counties. But both as listed as VHF, so knows. They were mentioning State Highway 27 east of 173.

Crawford Co is likely Ohio, 2nd choice PA.

West Lansing was woken by tornado sirens at 3am on Turkey Day due to some distant agency whose tones match those on Delta Fire's frequency!

I'm picking up Huron Valley Ambulance loud and clear up here in Port Huron.

Its nice to get some stuff from a distance but it sucks when you run open scan and it fills your banks and you can't lock them out when your at the bank max for TGS.

Not to mention I don't like listening to EMS or FIRE much. I'll listen to local FD's but thats about it.

EMS drives me up a wall

Yesterday I heard a medical get dispatched at Highway 67. If it was indeed a U.S. Route, then that means that it came from western Illinois. The freq was 154.415, if I recall. I think it was fire dispatch.

I'm very close to Lake Michigan, so this summer I've heard numerous calls from Wisconsin and Illinois. I've heard Chicago FD a couple of times. Heard a medical at Six Flags Great America once. But still, teriffic weather and very clear air! This is the nicest Thanksgiving weekend in decades!

Exclamation St. Clair Shores PD 460.300

Last night around 11pm I was hearing 2 other PDs besides SCS on 460.3. Today I'm still hearing 1 of the other PDs. Haven't confirmed what city it is yet.

I'm having a hard time narrowing down the location of these freqs because the FCC shows multiple hits all over the state and country for the same freq. Anyways here are the freqs I had hits on this morning.

151.2050
154.1450
154.2725(EMS) calling Clare Central, but freqs don't match Clare, MI
155.1750
155.4300
155.5350(PD) This is a MI freq for someone's LEIN.
155.5950(PD)
423.2500
423.3750(EMS)
423.5000
453.3000(PD)
453.4750(EMS)
453.8750
460.3500
461.3875
461.6000
462.0625
463.3375

Sanilac County Central 911/LEIN

You will rarely hear them but with this skip they are blowing the doors off my scanner this past week. They usualy have a weak signal.

Didn't see the local post. I was tracking and posting here:

Where I work, this skip is making a big mess. Waterford, Oakland County Fire, and White Lake have all been wondering what the hell is going on with the radios. Interesting scanner listening. I got Seven Hills (OHIO) on a VHF HT just today requesting the rescue squad. It seems as if radios in Oakland share freqs. with places in Ohio.

I was picking up a lot of skip yesterday. I usually monitor around the Genesee & Shiawassee County areas. Yesterday, I decided to monitor around the Wayne(Livonia) and Macomb areas. I was able to pick up car to dispatch (Shiawassee Co SO), Putnam County (unk state), Ottawa County Dispatch.

These were all heard using the standard rubber ducky antenna on my BCT396.

Anyone else hear any of this?

Default Unidentified Phone Conversation

Earlier today I was picking up one side of a telephone conversation in a foreign language on 141.300. Also, I have been getting a lot of police activity in the 155mhz range thats normally not there.
