Question do people really program fast food restaurants??

Found this, which is apparently a nation-wide frequency listing for different Fast Food restaurants.

Do people really program this and listen to people place food orders?

Some people do. I'm sure the restaurant managers might listen when they are not 'working' to catch their employees slacking or doing other things wrong.

Although not recommended or legal, I have heard of enterprising owners of modified hand held amateur radios offering comments about what a person is ordering, or even placing their order before driving through the drive-thru.
Besides, there's something slightly salacious and voyeuristic about finding out what the family in front of you has ordered. Hey, if it transmits, we'll listen, even if its just to say we can.

I DID THIS: Park in lot with scanner on. Place mic of CB on speaker of scanner and broadcast thru remote speaker in grill of truck. Now everybody in town knows the fat gal ordered extra mayo. Once while monitoring while going thru the drive thru the car in front of me ordered 2 small drinks to go. I pulled up and got my order and told the girl in window that people were going around passing bad money and would just order two small drinks to go in order the pass the $ and get change. She nearly passed out. LOL

Yeah, I dead keyed the local Taco Bell on 154.600 when I was younger. It was kind of funny listening to them try and troubleshoot the problem. Most of the time they thought their batteries were dying because they couldn't hear customer orders.

The fun with fast food drive thrus is the second-channel chatter (unit to unit -- not heard by the customers) where they're talking to each other, supposedly unheard by others. What a revealing listen that is!

I had seen this video a few years ago. Had to find it for this thread. Its definitely not something I would condone doing.

EDIT: Here is another that is up there, this one is a little less destructive, and a little more legal.
