You will need to program this stuff into banks 1-9 because for some reason the 0 banks dont like the Digital stuff in them.

Set the bank itself to MOT (top right)

Make sure you set all the tower channels to MOT and DO NOT TURN ATT ON!!!

Seperate towers like this..

Richmond 8XX.XXX MOT
Richmond 8XX.XXX MOT
Richmond 8XX.XXX MOT
Richmond 8XX.XXX MOT
OPEN 1300.000 FM
ROMEO 8XX.XXX MOT

JUST LIKE THAT ABOVE.

Look on this list and everything you will need is here.

http://www.radioreference.com/module...ame=RR&sid=100

Program the towers in your area. You can program all the freqs for one tower or just the ones highlighted in RED and BLUE Since they are most important.

Here are your Tg's for your area. Set the TG section which is on the right lower side to DEC then you can enter the DEC's wich is the first collum on the left in the TG boxes.

Don't worry about the other collums since they really don't mean anything to you at this time. You can also eneter then by HEX but I don't do it that way and it works all the time for me.

3006 bbe D STATW6 Statewide District - 6

So to keep this short you are in MSP District 6 so if you want program everything in District 6, then program all your local stuff.

DNR is also interesting to listen to. I have all the RAPS's in mine (Report All Poaching) which is their LEIN and Dispatch channels and you can pick up the whole state from anyplace in MI because there is only 1 Dispatch Center located in Lansing.

3113 <--DEC for Dist 6 Emer Mgt

3113 c29 D EMMD6 District 6

Seriously? That's the first time I've heard that. I have the infamous site #219 (Macomb County) in bank zero and it works just fine! Is it a unique problem to the PRO-96, and not the PRO-2096 (which I have)? I don't remember having a problem like that when I had a PRO-96.

W8FIK,

Try this........Go to the top of this page and click on Database then on new page click on Michigan on new page scroll down to Michigan Public Safety Communications and click on that. On the new page scroll down to System Freqs and continue down to tower # 432 which is listed as Traverse City. Choose a bank on the scanner and you only have to program in the main control channel in red and the backup in blue.

From tower number 432 go up and down the list and enter any control freqs from towers you are near or think you might hear. Or program all the control channels for the entire state and you'll have full coverage wherever you go.

The control channel freqs repeat themselves throughout the state so not every control channel would have to be programed to get full coverage of the state.

When programming control channels....enter one control channel frequency and make sure that you set the mode for 'MOT' so that the scanner knows its a trunking channel and then enter an FM frequency between the control channel frequencies. I enter 250mhz FM between control channels. There is a reason for doing this so just do it.

For starters don't bother worrying about entering "talk groups"
Make sure you set the scanning mode for "open" and the scanner will pick up everything coming through the control channel or you won't hear anything unless you have specific talk groups programmed in.

For the regular non-trunking frequencies, program them in another bank as usual. You can find most frequencies listed in the database for Grand Traverse Co.

Hope this helps.

I took so long typing this that 2 replies came in. Use whatever works.

The towers on MPSCS for Grand Traverse County are 431 and 432 here:
http://www.radioreference.com/module...ame=RR&sid=100
The conventional freqs for Grand Traverse are here:
http://www.radioreference.com/module...e=RR&ctid=1254
I don't know what's wrong with Bigbluemsp's Pro96, but both my Pro96 and Pro2096 will receive MPSCS in bank 0.

Its been mentioned on here a few times. It was last year a few people were having issues with it.

I had my MPSCS stuff in bank 0 when I programmed it and it wouldn't pick up anything. When I moved it to a different bank it worked fine.

Here's a demo file for Grand Traverse. Also if you become a subscribing member here you can directly down load the data from this site to Win96. Also see the WIKI here for information on trunking.

It shouldn't make a difference, the only difference is how much space you want to use in your scanner, you have 10 banks of 50 channels for 500 total. I lay my scanners out by groups, but I've got 4 scanners to play with. The only rule is you can't put two different trunked systems in the same bank. You could take one bank and put in the 2 freqs as MOT for site 431 and a spacer freq of 1300.0 mode FM then the two freqs for site 432 as MOT the put in the conventional freqs.

The I-Call and I-Tac freqs are also good spacers in-between control freqs.

There isn't a whole lot of digital traffic around here, other than MSP. GT county has a talk group on the MPSCS that is active, but you're better off just listening to them over the analog becuase they just use a VHF-Digital patch and most of the moble/portable traffic is cut off due to the patch delay.

There is a lot to learn about both the Pro 96 and 2096. I almost returned my Pro96 the first few days, I was so frustrated. These are not scanners you just take out of the box, and start listening. But after much experimenting and monkeying around, and re reading the booklet, I wouldn't part with them. I just downloaded the Version 1.3 upgrade, and now get the detroit system just fine. Give it time. They are good scanners. Just takes a while to figure them out.
