Read everyone's taglines .. I am running a couple of PRO-10s and a couple of PRO-77s in addition to some newer handhelds.

Default DINO Scanners:)

My 1st scanner was a Patrolman Mini A/M-VHF radio. I used it mostly in Davison, MI near Flint when visiting my grandprants in the 1980's. Davison EMS was the only agency I could monitor at the time. I still have it today and works great.

The rest are:

Pro-26
Pro-27
Pro-90
Pro-92
Pro-94
Pro-96
BC-3
HTX-420
BC780XLT

Default Crystal per channel

It seems to me that scanners which are "programmed" (have digital frequency synthesis) are not old enough to be "dinosaurs". Real dinosaurs would have to be a crystal per channel or older.

Well I consider mine a "dinosaur" because it only goes into the 400 MHz range and isn't trunk tracking or digital like the new stuff.

In the process of moving I found a scanner I forgot I even had. A Bearcat Four-Six. I need to clean it up a little. I put some batteries in it and it still works. The manufacture date inside the battery compartment is stamped November 1978.

I'd say that if you can "program" the frequency, rather than install a crystal specifically for that channel, it is more like a "cave man" than it is a "dinosaur".
