Question Consumers Energy EDACS trunked system

So, since the Mode of all the talkgroups in this system is "A" i.e. Analog, I should be able to get transmissions on their system, right?

What would I be hearing, listening to Consumers Energy? Anything worth listening to?

After a big storm it's fun listening to all the power outages, day to day not much, gas leaks stuff like that..

Default Consumers Edacs - Oakland County

Here's one for you scanner masters. I programmed in the Consumers Energy Clarkston site EDACS frequencies from the RR page and sometimes I miss parts of conversations. I am locked on solidly to the control channel. I programmed in EDACS mode. I don't know if it matters with a PRO-2051, but I skipped the first channel in the bank and starting programming on ch.2. Am I missing some extra frequencies maybe? I am new to EDACS,LTR, but I have experience programming Moto TRS. I feel like they should offer a associates degree program in scanner programming/technology these days since the radio systems have come so far. Anyone here than can help with my problem I would appreciate it.

Try programming the system starting with channel #1 with EDACS systems you want to start with channel 1 and put the frequencies in the correct LCN order. Looks like Clarkston has 9 frequencies so start with channel 1 and end with channel 9..Try that and see if that helps..

It sounds like you might be missing an LCN, or a frequency is in the wrong LCN position. That would cause the missed transmissions you mention.

I had the delay function on so I turned it off. Hopefully that was the problem. The TGID would pop up, for example 15-111 kept showing up, but I would miss the transmission and hear a little high pitch sound (end of transmission cut off tone possibly?) And then another time 15-111 popped up and all I heard was data. With the way I had it programmed before I only heard 1 full transmission. Hopefully, I got it now.

Almost sounds like you didn't have the bank trucked to EDAC and had it set to conventional, but not sure as I am not sure which scanner you have.

if it still doesn't work, let us know what scanner you have and what freq you have on what channels.

I did some experimenting and deleted the Clarkston site freq's and put in the Royal Oak site #2 and I am receiving comm's fine. I am getting TGID's from Oakland County and the Flint area.
Thanks for your replies, this is the best scanner site on the net.

Last night I was listening to my scanner and it stopped on the Consumer's EDACS system with some Flint area talk group. The guy said "are we on I-CALL, oops, we're not, hang on". Since my scanner (PRO-2051) doesn't stop on I-CALL's I took it out of trunk and conventionally scanned the system, but I never heard the call. So my question is, can I-CALL be used as a local unit to unit call without going over the repeater? Or maybe since it is a multi-net the call went over a channel I don't have programmed (different site)?

Most likely the two users were on a different site than you had programmed.
