I haven't heard, or heard of, any widespread VHF Low band activity in Michigan for several years. There still seem to be some systems around, mostly schools and public works. VHF Hi band is pretty active, 154.295 is common statewide for fireground/mutual aid; 155.160 and 155.175 are quite active in EMS. Our local EMD just had 155.7275 programmed into the VHF handhelds.

Checking the FCC site, it does not show any licensed users in Michigan on 155.7275. However, 155.7300 is in use:

Are the 700MHz frequencies actually in use? I thought that was a long way off.

All the tac and call channels are being somewhat newly implemented.
It's part of inter agency operability, allowing all licensed users on a particular band (vhf, uhf, 800) to have common tactical channels. Not designed for base station operation, and operating on the narrowband principal.
Depts are slowly programming them in, but being primarily non-repeated and handheld/mobile, you're not likely to hear something that's not pretty close to you.
In our tri-county area, the hope is that if a dispatch center has the appropriate equipment, all parties will go to their tac1 or tac2 etc channel, and the dispatch center will be able to patch uhf/vhf/800.

Hey Bill!
Yep, it's still in the work van plugging away. Not as clean as it once was, as the steering wheel is my lunch table too many days. But it's withstood coffee, water, and keeps ticking.
I bought a BC8 to replace it with, but just dont see the need.

John
