Question Grand Traverse CenDisp

New to area & new to the state. I noticed the local Townships have a Frequency for fire so my ? is, is this the Frequency they are Dispatched from or is it more a responce freq or even used at all since the only traffic i'm hearing is coming from 154.355? Thanks..

Merry Christmas!

Looking at the database it looks like 154.355 is the county wide dispatch and the other channels listed are TAC or Fireground. Checking MPSCS does not show any FD TG's for Grand Traverse. The only othe FD dispatch in the database is Traverse City.

Thanks... I figured that was the case. I'm finding it alittle hard to moniter or I should say pay attention to my scanner here, i'm finding it alittle boring here! Hopefully my gift to myself (bcd996t) will bring more action with being able to moniter MSP. I will add that it's great that I was able to dust off my sc180 and use it again! Not much use for a non-trunking scanner in CA.

Not a lot of activity this time of year in Traverse City or Grand Traverse County. The BCD996T should be able to get quite a bit of traffic on MPSCS.

The Twp. fire freqs listed here aren't really used for anything at all. They've been in my various scanners for years and I've never heard a peep from any of them. 154.235 is used form time to time for training purposes, but that’s about it.

As for the MPSCS, that's even quieter than the local analog freqs. There is very little MSP traffic around here as most units are dispatched from county central dispatch centers...especially Post 71 in Traverse City. They will check in and out with Station 70, then often go the rest of their shift without even touching their digital radio.

The only county within range of GT County that has gone fully digital is Manistee County. Most other counties in the area have patches to the MPSCS, but they aren't always active. Any other traffic is going to be corrections traffic from Camp Pugsley, or DNR traffic from the various state parks in the area (rarely law enforcement, they are also dispatched from county dispatch centers).

Your best bet for GT County listening is to stick to the "Adams", that’s where all the action is going to happen.

Adam 1 - TCPD Dispatch 155.700
Adam 2 - Used for many things by all county agencies 155.925
Adam 3 - GTSD Dispatch 156.210
Adam 4 - LEIN for all agencies 155.670
Adam 5 - North Flight EMS Dispatch 155.160
Adam 6 - GTFD Dispatch 154.355

There are a couple others freqs that don't have "Adam #'s", such as TCFD Dispatch (154.325) and city/county FD ground freqs, that you should also be sure to listen to. Other than those, nothing else is going to offer anything of interest.

You should certainly keep listening though. There is some interesting listening here, just not as much this time of year, as others have noted. Just wait till summer though, I promise you won't be disappointed (hundreds of thousands of people inundate the city for a week in early July for the Cherry Festival, then again for the Film Festival in late July/early August, plus we have the National Governors Conference coming here this year).

If you haven't already, there is a local scanner group on Yahoo! that you are free to join.

Hope this helps.

Just got a new pro 96, trying to get up and running, live in Livonia and can't seem to get the Livonia frequencies in, Mostly getting MSP, and a few surrounding cities.
I think I need lots of help.

You would get a better responce to your question if you started your own thread in the Michigan Forum and ask your question, since this thread is about Grand Traverese County and Livonia is not in Grand Traverese.
