Default CB Base Station

I would like to purchase a base station but have no idea what to buy. Could someone please give me the lowdown on what would be a good first buy for a beginner like me. Also in laymans terms please explain the jargon. thank you very much.

that depends on what you want to spend i use a mobile cobra 148gtl but i have had alot of work done on it extra channels modulation increased echo board thear are endless mods to do to radios . and a power supply and a antro 99 antennia works good for me but any mobile will work or find a local cb shop or a truck stop that has a cb shop in it find a used base googel search cb radios cherakee has a nice cgeap base at about 140 ish price range h&w electronics is a good site ebay you can spend up to 5 & 600 bucks or also local ham swap meet you can google ham swap meets i like the swap meets lots of scanner stuff cb stuff they sell cb stuf cheap most ham look down at cb stuff and off it cheap

try claysradioshop.com they are trust worthy as i have done business with them in the pass

also there is a cb shop on 9mile and hays accross from the 7-11 they will rip you off and mess ur stuff up so just stay away from them

thank you for the info, also being a beginner at this, besides the radio, do I have to have a special antenna for the inside/outside of my home?? I am really green at this as you can see. thanks for any help you can provide.

well it would realy help i use a antron 99 got for 60 bucks at abel electronic and mounted it to my chimney the mount i got at radio shack where are you located mite be able to help with shop locations or ofer help putting it up but everone has there on thoughts on radios and and antennas and the last post was nothing we talk to each other on the radio
