Cool radio shack pro 96 reception problems

Hi...I am new to this forum and hope someone can help
I am in Monroe County, MI. I have had the radio shack pro 96 for a year or so, and when I got it I used win96 to program it, and it worked like a charm...everything was clear and crisp. Lately, however, it is "garbled" and will fade in and out in the middle of calls. I even updated to new firmware (DSP firmware upgrade 1.4). I have the newest 800 mhz antenae from radio shack. Has anyone else had similiar issues or know how to fix this?
Thanks,
Gary-Sue

The BNC antenna connection is somewhat 'sensitive' on these radios. Mine has been back twice to resolder the antenna circuits. Check and see if the weather from NOAA is as clear as usual. If not, it may well be the antenna circuit...especially if the radio has been dropped a few times.

or if the scanner has been picked up by the antenna several times.

I bought The RadioShack 800MHZ Rubber Ducky antenna. That cleared up my MPSCS signal from 20% to 90%, from my basement! it has to be the scanner itself. and i didnt like the 1.4 upgrade. i switched back to 1.3.
