Default looking for help in Grand Rapids area

Earlier today 4/16 t approx 0315 - I heard on freq 153.845 (walker PD dispatch) the following message: "attention all units zebra 3 is activated" it repeated several times. I was wondering what that means? Any help is appriciated, thanks in advance.

Dave

interesting as 153.845 was Walkers old PD dispatch. I thought they were fully on the LTR passport system for all PD services. I work in Walker and will monitor and see if there is any activity

Added: at 15:35 they said something on the channel that I missed.

Sounds like they are patching the LTR over to the old freq.

Not sure but I do remember hearing MSP D 6 tring to talk to Walker PD but because they were on the LTR MSP could not.

Maybe they are doing that for MSP to be able to talk to them, sorta like what Allegan Sherrif is doing Patching there EDAC PV to a Talkgroup

Zebra alarms in Grand Rapids used to be a battery operated remote alarm that when triggered would broadcast(from a tape recording) on the air "Zebra Alarm #......" and units would look up zebra #.... and respond to that location. I think they were holdup alarms.

I heard that message play today as well. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't this called a VARDA? (Voice Activated Radio Dispatched Alarm). Ottawa county has a similar vocal alarm that I sometimes hear on the tactical channel ("There is a larceny in progress at point ###", repeat, repeat, repeat, repeat).
