Default MSP gets new License Plates

MSP gets new License Plates

The following pic is what the NEW MSP PLATES look like. They were just installed on the drive track cars and they are slowly being phased in on the current cars as of this 2 weeks ago. I DO NOT LIKE IT, I THINK IT'S UGLY AS SIN.

This is no joke and NO It's not photoshopped.

Can't be any uglier than those bubble gum lights on their cars.

I don't think they look that bad. Do the letters, and numbers have any significance other than being assigned to the MSP?

Bill,

The first 2 digits are the Post # that car is assigned to. IN this case TD is Training Division which is the Academy and more so the Driving Track at the Academy.

The last 2 are the car number.

So your comments are ok Big Blue MSP, but his are not?? I read alot of the threads and enjoy the site but it seems that if someone disagrees with you and you don't like it, you have to respond with a degrading remark or comment.

I personally don't enjoy reading some of your opinions/comments but I don't trash or degrade you when I disagree with you, in fact, I don't comment at all. You should think about that and the way it might make someone feel as if they can't comment because you may treat them in a negative way.

Last time I checked who runs this board your name was not there. So I question your authority to tell someone to keep their comments to themselves when, on the other hand, you seem to think you can comment in a negative, degrading way without consequence.

Whats good for the goose is good for the gander man....

I'm Done

Just my thoughts.

Rob while you have a valid point this topic wasn't about lights at all. He just wanted to toss a monkey wrench into the tread to create caos.

I know a bunch of people don't like my comments and well such is life and there is a ignore button on here for that as well as a report post button.

Dans comments would have been best reserved for a thread with a pic of a MSP car with a visable light and not that of a license plate.

Also this is a free country and opinions are allowed to be expressed w/o threats of harm or violence being used. Now I haven't violated the TOS of this board and I have been in touch with Lou regarding this issue already within this posting.

You will not like everyone you come across and you shouldn't because we just socially can't get along with everyone we meet. If we did that then we would be sitting in a circle holding hands and singing songs around a camp fire while roasting marshmellows.

I am a cynical person with a TYPE A personality and all my co-workers know that, all my family and friends know this and anyone that has dealt with me knows this and again such is life. I am not now nor every will be a PC type of person. Political Correctness screwed this country up and it's going to ruin it further if people can't handle honest opinions of others. You can't be afraid to voice an opinion and those that are afraid are the ones that get steamrolled by the rest of society because they sit back take it and let the rest roll with how they want things to happen. I am not like that, I was raised differently. I was raised to stand up stick out your chest and battle for your beliefs and thoughts and if you win great and if you lose oh well.

I have said it before if people here don't like my opinions then report the post or go to my profile here: http://www.radioreference.com/forums/member.php?u=41033 and on the right side click Add bigbluemsp to Your Ignore List its easy and you wont have to read my posts at all.

I am a traditionalist and I know most people are not thus I will get hot headed over this issue and the light issue. You can upgrade tridition but keep the basic principles the same but a total change I don't like. If you want to change start slow.

This plate while fugly is also going to cost the state more money because they have to outfit all the new cars and retrofit all the inservice cars that they have, same with MDOT, DNR and other state departments. There is no savings this year that will come of this other then misspent monies because the plates are not free.

I'm done with my rebuttle for now.

Wow.....that was way too deep man....lol You're not telling me anything I don't already know, I am a well educated man. I just have a problem with adding un-necessary words to your posts like describing his comments as "stupid" when that is not necessary to make your point.

And to be honest...I have no personal issue with you...in fact, I don't even know you. I just think you can make your points in a better way without being degrading...that all man. I have not reported your post, nor do I plan to...I just wanted to make my point and let you know from someone who frequents the board on a regular basis who may interpret comments differently than someone who knows you personally.

Have a good one.

Rob

And I appreciate that Rob and I thank you.

Lou and I are trying to figure out if his State Police or ours has uglier plates. I think it's a tie. Aint that right Lou?

All the fully marked and semi marked cars and tahoes will have them along with the special units like K9, EST, Dive Team, Bomb Squad and others.

I'm waiting to see what the new DNR plates look like.

I wonder if they are going to end up changing the county plates too.

I think they are. Most of the municipal ("123 X 12") plates where I am have been changed. A friend of mine who works on a fire department said they had to give up the old red, white, and blue plates (remember those from 1976?) and the were replaced with the new fugly ones.

I think the TD plate shown above was a preliminary design. The MSP plate I saw had the full-color MSP logo silk-screened onto the plate and it looked pretty nice. Also, where the one shown above shows the internet address the one that I saw said Michigan State Police. The photo above looks like someone slapped a sticker on a license plate.

I know a Ret. Sgt that worked at the Adrian Post prior to retiring and he said the guys at the Adrian Post designed this plate and they like it. They like it but every troop I have seen said it's embarrassingly ugly.

I will look into the Sheriff's Plate for you Alex and I will let you know. Shouldn't you be in school? Don't make me call your mom lol j/k man.

If the state redesigns the Sheriff's plates they will be white as well and probably have the stupid mitten and star on it instead of just the star and the numbers. The county plates now don't look bad it's just the color I don't like. I think the star belongs in the center of the plate on the county oens. Then again thats just me.

I don't understand what is so ugly about it? It's white and blue and has the MSP shield. Big deal. Plus, it is just a license plate. Who really cares or pays attention to what a license plate on a squad car looks like? I think it is much more recognizable than the words STATE POLICE in amber on a blue background.
