Default Lapeer County listening from Chesterfield

Is there any chance of me listening to Lapeer County central dispatch while I am in Chesterfield, in macomb county?
I have a Pro-96 and an outside antenna about 25Ft. up. I can not get a signal from their county system.
I can not hear the Columbiaville tower. and I have not had any luck getting the Lapeer talk groups from the Romeo tower?
Suggestions???
Thanks.
Brian

Have you tried the Richmond tower, #204?

No you can't hear Lapeer County until you get to just about Armada.

Their system is funny that way it's hard to monitor outside the county.

I just noticed they're still on their own system. I could have sworn someone posted on RR that Lapeer County joined MPSCS.

Nope not yet they are scheduled to do so by 2009-2010 though.

It will be a easy transfer from theirs to the MPSCS because all their mobile and portables are Analog/Digital radios. They do have some of the Statewide Even TGs in their radios. All that will need to be done is change out the microwaves on their towers, reprogram all the radios and change the consoles in dispatch and done. It will be a fast, easy and cheap switch.

All LE agencies and some of the FDs (not sure about EMS) have preps that are able to communicate over MPSCS. Currently Central Dispatch doesn't have the funding to make the change. I think the local paper said $25 million is the current cost of upgrading.

Everything BigBlue said about signal stregnth is correct. We have so many dead spots its pathetic. It seems like right at the county line you loose signal. MPSCS has only been used a few times out here and it works great. The last incident it was used in was a pursuit that Mt. Morris (Genesee Co) chased across Lapeer Co and ended near Yale. Everyone was able to talk to central outside of the county without problem.

Chief is right you can hear a decent signal at about Yale but go any further east of Yale and the signal is gone. Nothing but BONKS after M-19
