Macomb County, Sites #219, and #202
OK, so you know I clamed that I was able to receive what appeared to be 100% of Macomb Counties P25 traffic on the ROMEO #202 site. Then I programmed both ROMEO #202, and MACOMB #219, on Bank 0, with #202 first, and #219 second, with a null frequency in-between them. Without exception, it's been going to #202 100% of the time!
Today I switched the order of the sites, putting #219 first, and #202 second, thinking maybe for some reason I wasn't scanning #219. Same results! Without exception, everything is hitting on #202 ROMEO 100% of the time!
So from where I'm at, 25 Mile & Romeo Plank Rd, I see no point in even scanning MACOMB #219.

Can't be null (i.e. empty) -- it has to be an actual frequency.

I guess "null" was the wrong term. I should have said actual, but inactive frequency.

I'm at 21 and Heydenreich, right between both the MCJail tower and the romeo tower.
I am picking up both the simulcast system and the Romeo tower almost 45/45 with the remaining 10 percent taken over by the richmond tower.
if you look at both the Romeo Tower and the Simulcast system the ERP for the simulcast sites varies by 178 watts (ERP of 40 at the low end (st clair Shores) and 218 at the high end (Clinton Twp)) while the romeo site is 100 watts. (ERP of 123 watts)
Also, lets look at tower height, Romeo tower is 147.8 meters high (Roughly 480 feet) the Simulcast system averages between 41 meters (MCJail tower) and 67 meters (Warren tower) with the bulk of the towers being at 55 meters. this is height above ground. the height at the tower locations varies just as much as the rest of the variables.
there are a lot of variables regarding tower reception. I dug into the FCC ULS database for this information. the only thing that receiving the Romeo tower over the simulcast tower closest to you means you can hear Romeo better.
are you getting 100% of the traffic... I honestly dont know. I do know that I have run PRO96COM on both sites and have logged a lot of the same talkgroups, I have also logged some talkgroups unique to each tower. Same goes for Richmond, and Detroit
Try this, lock out one of the control channels and let the other one scan, see where you are hearing the most traffic, and go from there.
I have my pro 2096 set up with all the towers from Region 2 in one bank, so when I am mobile, I can pretty much stay connected no matter what.
just to give you an example about coverage of the Romeo tower, I pick it up, mobile, in Richmond, and have picked it up at the National Weather Service office in White Lake. its pretty robust!! and, at work, a half mile from the Clinton Township tower, there are times when I still pick up Romeo over the simulcast system
let us know what you find out.

Well I added the Richmond site to the mix, so now I have MC, ROMEO, and RICHMOND tower sites. Now it seems to be favoring the RICHMOND site, then ROMEO on occasion, but still ignoring MC. I have all the TG's from RR listed under Macomb County, running in Closed mode.
I confirmed I have MC site programmed properly because if I L/O RICHMOND, and ROMEO, MC works fine. At least for now it appears I am not missing any Macomb County traffic if I L/O the MC site.
