Default 800 MHz Yagi

I just finished building the 10-element version of the 800 MHz yagi that was shown in the latest issue of Popular Communications magazine. It is very easy to build, and I got all of the materials needed from my local Ace Hardware store.

I haven't put it up on the roof yet, but I am very pleased with my in-house testing. I was able to get fairly good signals from three towers by simply holding it in my hand in the lower level of my house. I can't wait to see what it does outside about 30 feet up.

Thumbs up

That's great Randy! I was thinking of trying that myself. Before you put it up there, maybe you could post some close-up pictures of your creation?

What do you plan to use for coax, and how long of a run will you have?

Thanks!

How hard would it be to build something like this?

I get probably the best reception I can get being the height of my area, and being on the top story of my house but I'd like to try this and see how much farther I can reach out.

Well I tried today to get the issue, and as it turns out the June issue is already out. I ordered the subscription but I doubt it will start with the May issue. I just hope I can get a back issue to see this construction project. I think it will help me in my apartment picking up MPSCS.

I made a yagi last night for 800 mhz and so far it is working great inside my apartment. It has a 9 inch boom with 4 elements. I used this sight for calculations -- http://www.dxzone.com/cgi-bin/dir/jump2.cgi?ID=11183

Here are a few pictures of it temp mounted on my radio rack. I have another one the same size to put together.
