From everything that I have seen, Saginaw County is a TRUE BELIEVER in Motorola......and yes there are plans to switch to the MPSCS System. They will have to do something within the next 5 years because Motorola won't be supporting Type II 800 Systems.

Hope that Helps

Eric

Says who?

There are still lots of businesses all over the country that are currently using Type II either full analog or mixed-mode analog/digital and some still using Type I or IIi systems.

Are you saying that EVERYONE will have to be digital within 5 years? I think not. There is too much money involved in upgrading to digital.

hmmm...that is a question that I will have to ask a tech friend of mine.....you are correct there are a lot of Type II 800 MHz systems around the country. The report that showed up here in our county from a police chief said that in 5 years motorola was not going to support type II systems and that the parts are very scarse even now......so I will check on that and will post back here when I find out........as for Saginaw, they may just convert their current system to completly digital(which digital is what they want) since it is a analog/digital system already.

I can see them saying no more support for Type I systems. But, definately not Type II or IIi systems.

I think what he is refering to is the new rules that the FCC put together about 5 years ago siting that digital signals are the way to go and provide a better signal reception ect... as apposed to analog.

No, but sure! Acually maybe I am just wrong, because it was said that in 5 years time, Motorola was not going to support our Type II Simulcast system!! and that came from a Police Chief. So whether or not it is all type II systems I dont really know, but I would assume that if they are not going to support one, they would not support any. This is the digital age, and they are pushing for pretty much everyone to join the bandwagon........
