Default Any fairly recent changes regarding southwest area frequencies?

I have to reprogram my scanner this weekend and I was wondering if there have been any changes to the MPSCS system with regard to any local frequencies. All I'm aware of right now is the Kalamazoo DPS being fully encrypted and the changes that had occured with a few conventional frequencies Portage used.

Is there anything else that should be noted?

Thanks.

Part of the reason why Kalamazoo is encrypted is because when they purchesed their radios from EFJohnson they gave them free encryption on all the talkgroups they wanted.

Something that Moto and Kenwood charges out the rear for.

Exactly because Motorola is charging the State $15 MILLION a year for firmware upgrades and I guess they found out Motorola hasn't been doing the upgrades for a few years but still getting the money for it because they say they are doing them.

The MPSCS news page above the frequencies and talkgroups also states it's to improve officer safety against many hazards, including the reception of radio transmissions by terrorists, which may present a threat to local Homeland Security.

Heh, I didn't know Al-Qaida had it's sights on Kalamazoo.

Not that we dont have to be careful, and never let our guard down. But HLS is being used as a excuse for anything, anyone wants to hide JMHO

"Heh, I didn't know Al-Qaida had it's sights on Kalamazoo."

Tell that to the people of Birch Run after the plans to their high school were found in a cave in Afganistan.

I find it odd how everyone whines and moans about how a terrorist will never touch there community.... then it happens and everyone starts pointing fingers.
