Default Dumb Question About State Police Frequencies in Detroit Area

Hi,
Sorry to ask an ignorant question but here goes...

When I first got my Pro-96, I programmed in two MPSCS towers for receiving Michigan State Police from my home in Oak Park. The two towers were in Detroit and Northville. I used to listen to the Detroit tower (which was NOT tower 701) to hear activity in and around the Detroit freeways.

Now, looking over the database, I see that there's no longer a listing for the Detroit MPSCS tower dedicated for the State Police.

My question is, has the State Police activity been moved to tower 701 or is my best bet the Northville tower? What happened to the Detroit tower dedicated to the State Police?

Thanks!

Fred E.

The old MPSCS Detroit tower, which was located in the downtown area, was shutdown
after Detroit City's new simulcast system came online. Moreover, all MSP, and other state goverment agencies moved to the new Site-701, since it has much greater capacity with 30 channel pairs. The old site was refurbished and relocated to another location in the western part of the state.

Your best bet, would be to listen to the Northville, Detroit and Macomb County sites. These would most likely have the action that you are looking for. Likewise, the Flat Rock site will also have a lot of MSP activity on it.

Northville would be your best bet because it's the main controller for the entire MSPCS District, meaning it's the main hub that all the towers report back to which then goes to Lansing.

True, but mostly TG 2010 appears on 701, a rarely see it on the Northvilles site, except for at night when the Post 25 cars use it. Same with TG 2009, dont hear it much except on 701.

allthough i only recieve 25% of the trasmissions on the detroit tower, because of how they made it to work.
