Default Traverse City Area Question...

Heading up for a little R&R this upcoming weekend on the Beach..(I know, probably a little too cold still...lol) It appears Grand Traverse cty. is still using VHF freqs, and I would like to confirm that so I can get the radio ready.

Anyone in the area?

Rob

Yes, Grand Traverse County and Traverse City are VHF. GTSO does have a patch to the MPSCS, but it's not always active. MSP and DNR are also dispatched from GT Central over VHF. They rarely use their digital radios, so the MPSCS around here is pretty quiet.

As for what to listen to, stick to the "Adams". Those are the most used public safety freqs in the county/city.

Adam 1 - 155.700 TCPD
Adam 2 - 155.925 Mutual aid. Used by all agencies in the county/city for various purposes.
Adam 3 - 156.210 GTSO (MSP, DNR)
Adam 4 - 155.670 LEIN (All agencies)
Adam 5 - 155.160 North Flight EMS
Adam 6 - 154.355 GTFD

TCFD does not have an "Adam" assigned, but they are on 154.325 so makre sure you get them in as well.

If you do PL tones, all but Adam 5 have a CTCSS of 162.2.

Thats really about it for around here. There are some other freqs used around the county, but they are very rarely used and don't offer anything exciting anyway. If you're using an RS scanner, I can send you a file with everthing for the area programmed. Let me know.

lol...I think I'm the only one.

The weather up here this time of year can be VERY unpredictable. Sunday it was cold, cloudy and 50, today it's sunny and 80. The rule of thumb for TC though is thats it's always at least 5 degrees warmer in town than they say it's going to be. It should reasonably nice though. Enjoy!
