Default MPSCS TRS? Clare co. switching over? Need help

Clare co has secured a state grant to move them onto the same radio service as the MSP. By reading a bit here, I am assuming that is MPSCS TRS? I know when MSP moved from their old frq, I could never hear them again.

We have enjoyed listening to our county sherrif on a 400 ( UHF ?) frq for years. What is it that I am going to need to listen in when they do the switch? County is our main police, we dont have city cars here ( Harrison ). I have a trunk tracker radio BC235XL that I bought when I lived down state ( Oakland Co. area ), will that work?

Thanx for your help.

Jim

You will need a digital scanner because the one you have won't work.

I wouldn't worry to much because it will still take them a year or 3 to make a full change out.

no your scanner won't be able to monitor it. you'll need a Radio Shack Pro 96, a Radio Shack Pro 2096, a Uniden BC296D, a Uniden BC796D, a Uniden BCD396T or a Uniden BCD996T, a GRE PSR 500 or a GRE PSR 600 to monitor it.

With one of the above scanners, will I be able to hear MSP? I look at the database here and it list a bunch of freq's for MSP, but most state barely used. Are all those digital?

Type, Tone, Channel, Mode...what do all these mean?

Sorry for the stupid questions, but I'm totaly confused.

Looking at the MPSCS Database:
868.43750* 868.93750* is listed for red/blue in Harrison. Is this where I hear MSP for my area? Will the radio's above tune in?

The radios above will tune in to that.

The Red and Blue freqs are control channels which you need to monitor the local tower in your area.

I read something that referenced win96? Would this software make all this easier to understand? I sure seem lost.

Hello
win96 is the software used to program a Pro-96 or Pro-2096 scanner, so if you did buy one of those radios I would recommend getting that software, makes it so much easier to program..
