MDOT Traffic Cameras

Is there any way to view these since I assume they are wireless? Does anyone know what band they are using 2.4ghz or higher? Just a curious thought.

Ya was thinking about trying am Icom IC-R3 to see if I can pick them up.

I belive they broadcast the video in the 2.4GHz range (as they also interfere with the Ka band on radar detectors ).
Some of them also have a 800 Mhz yagi antenna, that I'm guessing is for the control of it for direction, zoom, pan, tilt, etc.
The problem is that since they use a directional 2.4Ghz antenna, you are going to have to be in the beam (direction) of the antenna to pick up any signal.
Also, I dont think the ICOM tv reciever goes up to 2.4Ghz for recieve.

Ya I haven't seen any Yagi's over here in west MI and they have a longer omni antenna on top of the post. I will try and snap a pic of one today. Thanks for the info.

KA Band radar is 33 GHz so interference from 2.4GHz is not too likely. K-Band is 24GHz which would make it a 10th order harmonic which shouldn't cause interference either. I'd suspect a low cost radar detector is the problem not the signal. Try a Valentine One, I've never experienced any interference from roadside video antennas.

Your right, I got my bands mixed up. I get interference on K band.
I get a signal on 2 diffeent radar detectors, and as soon as I pass the pole, it stops, so its definatly from the poles.

On M-59 East past Opdyke I used to get Ka interference using a Bel Vector radar detector. I did notice a large pole with 2 microwave type antennas on it. This was a few years ago and now the interference is gone.
