New Tri County Mutual Aid Frequency

Who has any information on this new "system" that will be on 453.750 in the Lansing/Tri County Area?

All I know is that it will be a Tri County fire mutual aid frequency. I am wondering who knows more details as to when it will be going into place, and if it will be repeaterized or simplex?

Nothing will happen until Ingham Co distributes their new radios with the freq in there, I assume it'll be just the same as Tri-County PD (has to be repeated.) That's still summer at the earliest from my last check.

Not exactly sure who's gotten them, but I was under the understanding they were ready for distribution end of last summer. Of course, this doesnt mean they actually pulled the trigger on it, just heard tale of them sitting in a storeroom in Jackson waiting for deployment.
And, for what it's worth, I dont think I'll be getting overly excited about the Tri-County Fire freq. Usually whomever has the event keeps it on their main channel, while the rest of us switch over. Since Ingham will be EDACS, it's probably just a way to let them play with others.

The radios are here but since Ingham is awaiting a new tower (the BWL tower ended up being overloaded) they have to build one first.

As to the need - I think part of that came out of the WMD / dirty bomb training in Delta Twp where not everyone in Eaton / Ingham Co had the ability to switch over to the DT frequency and vice versa... Now everyone will be able to use a mutual aid channel like they are supposed to be utilized ;>

Potterville was a terrific example of not even having well planned inter-agency channel(s) even within a single dispatch center.
Fortunately the local radio dude was able to program a lot of radios quickly to a rarely used admin channel of eaton countys.
No one will consult, or advise the out-county depts of eaton of this new tri-county frequency. We're lucky enough to figure out what we do. Had it not been due to a few beers with a local fire administrator one night, we'd still be without Grand Ledges frequency change, and we're a mutual aid dept to them.
And my god, listen to EC Sheriff when they have an incident, all regular patrols go to tri-county, county freq is held for priority traffic, it's been an absolute zoo... just this weekend!

Yeah John, sounds to me that we are the ones that need to "spread the word" in our rural areas. I hope also that Sunfield gets ahold of it. I know they are on their own frequency, but it would be cool to hear from them from time to time. Sounds to me that both you and I, as well as other readers here that are silent, know more about this "system" than our Emergency coordinatiors. It always seems to me that they want to deny any facts we have in order to show that they have it "under control" if you know what i mean
