Default Macomb County Simulcast

I live in North Shelby Twp. In the past, I could hear Shelby Twp PD on Romeo (202) and Richmond (204). Now I can only hear Shelby Twp on Macomb County Simulcast (219). What is happening to Shelby Twp? I have not listen for Romeo City on the Romeo Tower (202). I am speculating that all of Macomb County PD's communications are available on Macomb County Simulcast (219). Do I need to monitor Romeo (202) to hear any Macomb County PD?

Can someone tell me how many Macomb County Simulcast sites are active?

Thumbs down GRE PSR-500 and Macomb Simulcast

I brought the PSR-500 because I thought it would be better than the Pro-2096. The PSR-500 misses more than 90% of the calls that the Pro-2096 receives. In addition, the PSR-500 does not track.

A lot of people have been having problems with the PSR-500 as seen on this thread:

http://www.radioreference.com/forums...ad.php?t=84626

This is one reason why I don't rush right out to get a new scanner that has just been introduced on the market. Give them some time to work out all the bugs.

Also in reference to your first question, anything that is in the database listed as being in Macomb County should be heard on the Macomb Simulcast. It wouldn't hurt to program the control channels for Richmond and Romeo as well, just so you don't miss anything.

It sounds like you're having more problems than most. Agreed, users of the PSR-500 in the area are having some issues, but no where near 90%.

Don't panic, as there are some really knowledgeable people in our area working directly with GRE to resolve the problems. The PSR-500, unlike the previous GRE/Radio Shack scanners, is completely user upgradeable using a computer. GRE will no doubt have some new firmware releases in the near future. Don't forget, this is a very complex, highly advanced scanner. It will take awhile to get everything just right.

If it doesn't trunktrack - it won't receive anything at all. I tested briefly in Monroe Co and didn't get the response I was expecting, improvements in store...

I know what you are saying about trunktrack.
Macomb simulcast has a lot of traffic. If I use the wildcard talk group, my PSR-500 does not follow a conversation but picks messages from any active talk group at random. Maybe this is the way the wildcard talk group should work.

Default 396T & Macomb Simulcast

Is anybody using a 396T to monitor Macomb Simulcast? Does the 396T receive Macomb Simulcast?

Yes, it does a great job and I've probably sold 50-60 (396T) here in the county and they all work well

That's exactly what wildcard is. It means it will receive EVERY talkgroup that you do NOT have programmed into your scanner. Just like OPEN mode (Pro96) or ID SEARCH (396)

The Pro96 is better at simulcast than the 396, so I'd imagine the 500 will be up there soon too...

Can you actually scan specific programmed talkgroups on the pro 96? If so, how?
