Default Montcalm Confusion

While listening to Montcalm County , I have found some mobiles transmitting with a pl tone of 131.8 and others with a pl tone of 123.0. Can this be? They are transmitting on 154.65. Dispatch is on pl of 123.0. I am confused. HELP

They may be using a PL of 131.8 so they do not go though the repeater. Possibly talking simplex, car-to-car. Does it sound like they're talking to dispatch, or maybe just officers talking to other officers?

If you monitor the repeater output frequency of 155.6100 MHz (PL 123.0), you should just hear the normal Montcalm County Dispatch/Mobile traffic.

Another thing while paying attention to content of what is said, is see if it may not be another counties output. There are a few other counties that use 154.65 as an output that on high propagation days you may be hearing. I do not see anything using a 131.8 tone but there are a few without tone information in the database. Allegan, Arenac, and Muskegon (but I believe a different tone) are listed as having outputs on 154.65. Each with good propagation could probably be received in Montcalm county depending on your setup.

No it is defintly Moncalm County. MSP units at the Lakeview post when contacted by dispatch were talking on the 123 pl other cars in the area were on 131.8 and 123.0.

It could be set up that way to access different receiver sites all linked to the same repeater output.
