They wouldn't get rid of them, just close new production. Plus, I guess many news people didn't pay attention in civics class, because what he proposes can be stopped by congress with enough opposition. A nice round 200 would have been nice, but considering their main design is air superiority, 180 is probably enough to knock down the door of most countries airborne defenses. The loss is the fact that it could be used in other variations with design changes, like tactical bombing. But they could always reopen the line at a later time. They just always try and make it sound like they could never make it again, in hopes to stop them from shutting it down in the first place. They did that with the 17 and it worked... More orders came in.
