Akeela 05 calling Offutt

I heard two interesting comms last night on GCHFS.....the first was Topcat 70 contacting McClellan on 11175 USB stating their long wire was broken, and that they were requesting to do a full stop landing at "Patterson". I am guessing the long wire HF antenna wouldnt roll back into the plane?

The second interchange involved Akeela 05 talking to Offutt on 8992 USB and requesting weather for landing at Kirtland AFB. I tried to make a recording of this with my cell phone.....

I heard a similar call about 15 years ago, plane calling in "gordo ##" advising the antenna broke off at about the 2000' mark over western pa. . I don't remember all the exact details.
