Default MA ANG F-15s?

I'm presently hearing "AUX" or "OX" on 264.85 (00:48Z) - I believe they are MA ANG F-15s from Barnes, but I haven't verified the callsign yet...

Last night they were very active, caught a LOT of comms from an exercise that made me long for the days that the 102nd FW was here at Otis (my man) ANGB! Some activity again tonight, but it seems to have ended as I type.

Call sign last night was ZORBA.
Call sign tonight was HAWK, both used by the 104th FW out of Barnes.

Hi Mark,

Can you give us a rundown on the call signs in use since they switched over to the F-15?

In my experience, unit callsigns don't necessarily change with aircraft type.

In fact, they don't even seem to change with mission type.

For example, the former 107th TFW in Niagara Falls used FUZZY callsigns during training missions. They are now the 107th ARW and still use FUZZY callsigns on their KC-135 and KC-10 tankers.

Hi Dave,

I guess my question should have been; did the F-15's continue using their Cape Cod callsigns or did they change to Barnes callsigns along with their move? It wasnt the aircraft type change I was talking about it was the unit and base change. Sometimes each unit uses specific calls regarless of aircraft type like in your FUZZY example.

Plus I was looking for a current list of what they were actually using since the move.

I'm not 100% sure, but I believe the call signs used by the F-15's out of Barnes don't use the same ones that used to be used by the F-15's when they flew out of Otis (my man) ANGB.

Thanks Mark,

I guess nobody else here knows what they are either.

Looks like we'll have to go into search mode...

I passed Barnes on Tues around 1 PM just as a pair of MA ANG F-15s were departing. I have all the frequencies listed on the wiki in my 996XT - nothing heard - not a PEEP!! I did get some activity a little later on some Bos Ctr freqs, but the hits were too short for me to get callsigns...

This past Friday 9-7-09 a friend told me a flight of 4 F-15's came low over Pittsfield here in the Berkshires headed back to Westfield in the afternoon. About the same time, I spotted 2 by themselves over Northern Berkshire County at high altitude headed back to Westfield... And again, NOTHING on the radio..

Doug,

I have all the UHF freqs you listed programmed in. I DON'T use the VHF ones - I don't like the rest of the noise on the VHF channels. Maybe the F-15s are using VHF only??? That would be strange I think...

I wonder if that was CHUGS 1 that I heard talking to Albany TRACON on 307.200.

When they are traveling at low altitude, aircraft get flight following services from the local approach controls in whose airspace they are flying. Interplane communcations are usually in the 139-144 MHz range, AM mode.

I don't read this list that often, but I was going to update the Scan New England info and let everyone know ............ but Scan New England has a bad habit of not recognizing my password, so as soon as they reset me again, I'll update that info.

tnx to Ed for beating me to the punch.
