I understand from another website that the 138 - 144 Freq Band is for Federal.

What is the 138 -144 freq. band used for?

Thanks

Any idea who might be using 138.270 PL Tone 110.9?

I only heard one transmission which was not useful in telling me whom they might be.

I believe MARS is vacating/has vacated the 143 MHz range, but there is a local (to me) VHF MARS repeater input in that area.

Milair CAP uses these freqs very often in the Delaware area. Lots of air-air comms between fighter pilots. Interesting conversations....

Is the 138.270 AM/ NFM/WFM.? Please advise.Thank You

All the non-air frequencies in the 138-150.8 federal bands should be NFM or digtial and are now supposed to be on 12.5 kHz spaced channels (138.0125 138.025 138.0375 ...) so 138.270 is probably really 138.275. AM air channels as far as I know are all on 25 kHz spaced channels (138.0 138.025 138.05 ...)

If you Google "FEMA frequencies" you will get several lists. I don't know how accurate they are.

If he got PL then it's FM not AM

Not sure where the report of 12.5 Khz came from, but many are moving to Narrowband, on exisiting frequencies not migrating to a 12.5 Khz channel plan..

Dave what do you have out your way for MARS usage.

New England has an extensive linked network, there was rumor that NY [your area] was linked in, but we have not heard [monitored] anything to confirm this.

Framingham, MA 148.3750
Sandwich, MA 148.3500
Cummington, MA ?????
Warren, MA 150.4000
Goshen, CT 148.3750
Groton, CT 149.3750
Rocky Hill CT ????

Rumor was in NY
Rochester, Albany, Stanford, Greenburgh and Dobbs Ferry

We can start another thread if needed

I believe MARS is vacating/has vacated the 143 MHz range, but there is a local (to me) VHF MARS repeater input in that area.

Like ecps92 mentioned, I have heard US Navy warships on 139MHz in P25 mode during Fleet Week New York

US Military Academy at West Point, NY has a P25 Trunked system in 138-139 MHz

Lakehurst Naval Weapon Station has comms on 143 MHz in analog FM.

You are incorrect. We have been effected by narrowbanding, although we have been give "pairs" of adjacent narrow-band frequencies to utilize. There are fewer of them, so we have to use PL a lot more than we used to and had to QSY a lot of repeaters.
