Default ISR usage in Minneapolis Area

Hey everyone,

An interesting note, I am not sure about all of you, but i have had the IntraSquad radio frequencies in my radio for awhile and hadnt heard anything and was toying with the idea of taking them out of my scan list until the other night when i was driving past a former Army Munitions Facility in Arden Hills, MN (just north of St. Paul, MN) and heard their security staff talking on ISR Ch 3. They have had a VHF frquency listed for a long time and i have always scaned it, but have never gotten any results, so i suspect that they have migrated to using ISR radios.

Is anyone else hearing any ISR usage? I havent noticed much about them in chatter on the boards...

And yes, I do think encryption is an excellent tool.

I've only caught them on a few occasions, and the users were CAP
Air Shows and during a Civil Air Patrol FTX

Pretty low power, and had to be on-site to hear them.

Default ISR Radios

You would have to be very close to pick up anything from an ISR radio since they are basically FRS radios on UHF Govt channels.

So that means that someone in Massachusetts would have a difficult time picking anything up in MN?

ISR usage in Minneapolis Area (original thread title)

Good info about ISR though. Thanks

Actually, some of the early ones, and probably still, were FRS radios, simply retuned to the ISR channels, which were allocated for them

Presumably, this was a military response to units buying and using FRS radios for this sort of short range informal use, and, naturally, having to get their 'own' channels, and pay more for them.

Well, I guess you missed my point then. Or the point... whichever.
