i heard it on a talk show this morning there was 2 small planes that were flying into the closed airspace and i guess they didnt get the memo that it was closed so they had 2 f15's that were going to escort them but my question is can the dern jet even slow down enough to follow the plane at the planes max speed lol

Part of their intercept training involves flying slowly; also, getting close enough to read tail numbers and provide cockpit-to-cockpit hand signals. There's an interesting article on some of it from several years back:

Military fighter jets, circling the area of Air Force One ( again, in the air...or if it is on the ground ), with their look down - shoot down radar, Protecting the most powerful man in the free world.
Scrambled F-!6's? ( scratch my head )

??? Because a stray aircraft did not answer on 121.5 ( the civilian aircraft "Guard" frequency )? And the aircraft protecting Air Force One did not see him on radar?
Something awlfully fishy about this story.

AF1 was on the deck, not airborne, and never flies with a fighter escort - the only exception to that was 9/11. There was also no active CAP. Unless POTUS is on the ground for an extended period of time (usually over 6-ish hours), there is no combat air patrol assigned.
ATC probably tried to raise the aircraft on Guard, but considering that many light aircraft have only one radio, he probably wasn't monitoring it. They then scrambled a flight to intercept him.

So. Is my math correct?
76 miles x 5280 = 401,280 feet, in 6 min ( 360 seconds ).
My arithmetic brings that out to a whopping average speed of 760 ( my exact answer is 759.4 ) miles per hour. That is moving along.
5280x760=4,012,880 - Divide by 3600 = 1,114 - Divide by 401,280 = 360.2 seconds.
Yeah, yeah - it could have been done shorter, using the lidocaine ( us medics do halves ) method, but I wrote it out.
Now someone get a ruler out and slap my hands.

Yes they stopped doing most active CAP's a few years ago. They even used to do CAP's over Times Square on New Years Eve years back. But I was monitoring the whole day and there was no CAP. The F-15's came up on the scramble frequency at exactly 18:45 local and they were in "locked" range of the TOI at 18:51. I use the Scanner Recorder Pro program to record my BCD-396XT and it shows everything from the radios display on the computer upon playback, including the present time. Great program for 10 bucks.

Have you tried compressing the file with WinZip or any of the other archiving utilities? I might be able to host it somewhere for you.
