Default Scanner Suggestions

I am looking for a dedicated Mil Air scanner for my shack. I would prefer that it is a base model with front-facing control panel similar to the BCD996xt that I have. Any ideas? I don't need it to do any fancy things, just be a good receiver and reliable.
Thanks
Joe

A used BC780XLT. One of the best scanners ever for Mil and civilian aviation monitoring.

Default Milair Scanner

The BCT-15X is a good Milair scanner as well.

BC 898T is the best I think for me it even keeps the codes flashing then when I found a freak...
I enter it & turn it off no scanning like other recivers
for the base that is the big VFO I love
I would get another one in a sec

Gotta agree with you potbelly. I too use a Bc898t for mostly milair. I also have a BC780 scanning the 225-400 band at the same time. I prefer the 898 for the fact all controls (mode, step ect) are on the front and easily accessable. The 898t is tied to a homemade discone with a low cut-off freq of 225.0 works good. (I was surprised.) The 780 is tied to a Workman factory discone and works great. I have no trouble hearing Air to Air ops from Chicago and Indianapolis from my location near KDNV.

I have 2ea BC780XLTs and a BC785D. They have my vote since I run them remotely. A Pro2006 is not a bad choice either. I also have one of those.

Oh yeah! the 15 and 15x are really good. I pick up really distant air freqs with mine. +1 on that one.

totally agree. i should have bought another one when i had a chance. this has actually become my most used scanner. this scanner seem's to be the least subject to interference of all my base scanner's. pick's up civilian/milair like a dream. a few month's ago, a local electronics place said they could get me a new/old stock one. the employee didn't realize that they were discontinued. the manager/owner set him straight. big disappointment to me.
