First of all definitely take a look at the ARTCC Freqs in RR Database,Atlanta Center,Memphis Center and Washington Center. In the mountains freqs will come and go if the area is blocked, otherwise on mountaintop, you should be able to hear several hundred miles out, depending on how high the aircraft are that you want to listen too.
Also use airnav.com It will lead to smaller airports which sometimes are used by military aircraft, but also give you leads on additional lower altitude Center Freqs.
How far are you from McGhee-Tyson In Knoxville, plug in all their freqs, many military aircraft stop in there to refuel and or shoot approaches, their KC-135R SODA use 303.025 for OPS,AR 633 Primary is 240.35.I will give you a few more once i figure out exactly where you are.
