Does anyone have a list of nationwide air to air frequencies? I have some frequencies for the Randolph AFB area I am trying to confirm.

Thanks
Don

New Randolph VHF Milair Freqs

I also have these.
138.200 138.400 139.900 139.975 141.575 141.650 141.950 143.150 143.250 143.700
Don

The problem we have here Don is that most list of VHF (138-144/148-150.8) frequencies that have been posted here and elsewhere do not take into account the major overhaul that DoD did to this band in the middle 2000s. The other factor that has effected what you hear in this range is the effect that trunked radio systems have had on conventional LMR assignments. Users that use to take up a simplex or repeater pair now utilize the TRS and this has had a profound effect on what we here in this and the other federal LMR bands (previous DoD frequency assignments). The other factor that is peculiar to Randolph and other similarly located geographic bases are that frequency assignments are different for bases that are near the US/Mexico border.

I don't want you to think I am being flippant here, but thanks to all the changes that have been made mil monitors are going to have to use the search button on your scanner in the AM mode with 25 kHz steps (not 12.5 kHz which would be used for the FM side of things) if they want to catch stuff. And you do not have to be near the base to hear activity in this band. I catch stuff all the time in this range from aircraft transiting through my area or who are using various training areas in the region around me. I have one scanner devoted to searching the 138-144/148-150.8 MHz range for AM air activity.

Having said all that, here are the AM frequencies that are used in and around Randolph. Keep in mind they also have other freqs in this range that are used in the various training areas/MOAs. These ranges/MOAs are also used by other USAF AETC training units such as Laughlin etc.

139.300 Randolph Pilot to Dispatcher )PTD)
139.700 Randolph Single Frequency Approach/SOF

Other A/A and A/G/A at Randolph include:
139.275 139.400 139.575 139.600 139.700 139.800 141.025 141.050 141.075 141.425 141.475 141.500 141.625 141.675 141.700 141.775 141.825 141.875 143.000 143.600 148.675 148.750 148.800 149.125 149.250 149.400 149.625 149.675 149.875 150.500

As always I do appreciate any feedback on who are using these freqs. You can do it here or can contact me directly.

Hi Larry I live just ENE of Randolph AFB. Planes landing on 14L 32R fly right over my house all day long. Here is what I have for Randolph AFB
139.400 559 FTS Ops
141.075 558 FTS Ops Deactivated 09/28/06 Reactivated 05/20/10 as a RPA training squadron
141.175 Command Post
141.625 560 FTS Ops
141.700 99 FTS Panther Ops
143.725 Randy SOF
148.675 435 FTS EagleOps
I have two frequencies for HangOver SOF 138.150 and 149.125 MHz. I am waiting to see which one they use. Thanks for the list of frequencies I will add them to my list. I will let you know when I confirm them.

Thank you for the feedback Don. Have three questions for you.

>141.075 558 FTS Ops Deactivated 09/28/06 Reactivated 05/20/10 as a RPA training squadron
Is this really being used by the 558th? It was my understanding that they do classroom/simulator only training at RAFB and the flying elsewhere like Creech etc.

>141.175 Command Post
Have you heard this one recently? I'm curious if this may be a new assignment for RAFB. Is it the 12FTW, Base or one of the squadrons?

>143.725 Randy SOF
Also have you heard this one recently? I'm curious if this may be a new assignment for RAFB. That mission function has been used by 139.700 in the past.

SATX was my hometown Don. Born and raised there, still have family in the Alamo city. Graduated from Churchill HS in 1970, went into the Navy in 1971 and did 23 years. Settled here in western NC where I was the managing editor of Satellites Times magazine, assistant editor and columnist for Monitoring Times magazine. Fully retired and a fulltime monitor now here in Brasstown. Thank you again and I look forward to your feedback on those VHFs I passed along.

The 558 FTS uses simulators. They do not fly drones at Randolph AFB. 141.075 should be marked as Old 558 FTS Ops. 139.400 559 FTS Ops I am still waiting to hear anyone on this frequency. 141.175 MHz I hear data burst then a computerized voice comes on and says this is the command post and then reports weather watches & warnings then it says command post out with more data bursts. The mode is AM. I didn’t have 139.700 before. I am starting to get into milair listening. I have a old scanner scanning all of the unknown VHF frequencies. I have one scanner that does the mil UHF band. It is the only one that does trunking. Most of the time I am listening to my local fire and police and Randolph's LMR site. I have been reading your blog for years. Keep up the good work.

Does anyone have recent AR freqs for Southern California? The older ones I have don't seem active, yet there are tankers up just about every day.

That's very helpful. Thanks. Some of those do not look familiar. I'll plug them into my radio and see what happens.
