How to monitor air-air chat

It depends on the aircraft type,most Army military helicopters use low band in Fm 30.00-54.00,sometime higher and also use UHF 225.00-380.00,but Air Force Trainers use a variety of VHF and UHF,pretty much have to have several scanners scanning the different banks to catch them,because some conversations are very short.Some scanners now have spectrum sweepers,that just scan specific bands,sometimes it hit or miss,but if there are 2-3 scanning each band,better chance of maybe catching them.After awhile you learn the aircraft in your area and what they are prone to use especially if their are other people trying to listen to the same thing you are at that time.
