Carver co no audio

Hi all i recently loaded carver co 800 digital to my 996t
For some reason there is no activity,i checked on this manually,signal strenght is good
but never hear audio.I loaded this system per this site and used arc996
The same is true for washington co good signal no audio
does it matter if i use id/search or id scan

Did you enter all frequencies or just the Control Channels and how do you have the system setup? Did you enter Trunk Groups (TG)? Please provide more details and I will see if I can help.

ID Scan will scan those trunk groups you have entered for the system.

ID Search will search for any trunk group that is received on the system.

i am not sure how it is set up,wish i could be more help
pulled up the info using arc996 basic from this data base
and uploaded to scanner.had this radio for abt 1-yr still learning
the metro area was pre-loaded when i bought radio so i didnot set up tgid groups
using 8-element yagi 30ft above ground pointing SE

Understood. Using the ARC996 software, can you try to program the analog "weather frequency" 162.550 into the scanner and see if you can hear it? This should work with the stock antenna. If so, that will kind of prove the scanner works.

Can you tell me which agency you would like to listen to and what department within the agency (police, fire, ems, etc) you want to hear? Lets start with some simple.

My "public server's hard drive" died last night and I need to rebuild it today. If you can tell me what you want to listen to; once the server is back online, I can create an ARC996 file you can download to program into the scanner. I could also create show type of document that would show you, step by step on how to use ARC996 with Radio Reference or I can grab a laptop and meet you somewhere (that has Internet access, wired or wireless) and show you "hands on", how to do it.

I doubt that I could do all of this today, Saturday, but by Sunday, can do. If you want be to do this, I'll need your email address, so I can send you a secure email on how to access the server, and you general location, so we can pick the site/tower you need to "connect to". Let me know.

what i want to do is program all metro counties for( police and state patrol)
anoka,henn,ramsey,dakota,washington,carver, all of mpls,st.paul
i am located in columbia heights.If you would send me the link to the server and if you can create a file
for arc996t with the above counties,i would greatly appeciate this.

Good sign that you can pickup the weather channels!

I doubt that you will pickup all of the agencies from a stationary location, too many sites/towers/locations in various directions using the lowest transmitting power required to cover their area. You might be able to receive different agencies (locations) by rotating your yagi in the direction of the site/tower; but if you do turn your yagi, you'll lose the sites on the "back and sides" of the direction yagi the yagi is pointing.

For starters (theory, reference, sites, control channels, coverage maps, and talk groups), check out the web site "http://www.geocities.com/mn_metroscan/". Once there, checkout the following sections:

Under General Info read System & Monitoring FAQ.
Under Frequencies, read Tower Sites & Frequencies and maybe Coverage Maps.
Under Talkgroups, read State Patrol.

i went to the metroscan site,very informative,so the new digital sys. is like cell site repeaters,
i didnot realize the towers use low power,so by me wanting to recieve all metro counties may not be possible and or to many to fit into memory

From Anoka County it appears the “home” site for Anoka County is site 102 and is identified on Radio Reference as Anoka County Simulcast under the FCC License WPKG278. Here is a link to the tower locations and frequencies used in this site FCC Callsign WPKG278 Details.

According to Radio Reference (Scanner Frequencies: Allied Radio Matrix for Emergency Response (ARMER) Trunking System, Various, Minnesota) the Control Channels are listed below and are the only frequencies required for Control Channel Operation:

ok that went well i opened 2 files anoka police and fire
also loaded some aditional cities for anoka co a bunch of smaller cities but i dont think its necesary might hear the same info. on main
i have learned alot in the past 5-days about this radio thanks to you
