Default Best system to monitor statewide frequencies?

What system would be the best to put the statewide talkgroups in? I currently have all of them in every one of my systems. Which one would the the best to put them in?

Default Depends on tkgrp classification....

All your L's, S's, F's, and E's are statewide so whenever a radio hits a tower on that talkgroup the system will boadcast it.

For your P's, and A's those will bounce off any metro region system/sub-system.

Of course your county or local tkgrp's will be more confined to county or smaller sub-systems.

Remember this system is all about affiliation (sp), so while it does matter which system you are listening vs tkgrpusage, it also depends on if a radio is hitting that tower.

I know on my Pro-96 in open mode with the Wash Co CC only I see two things - Tower signal level change (based upon which tower I am near) and I also see a lot MAIN's for different counties/PD's roam also.

Most Main tkgrps are allowed to roam to other systems/sub-systems so the whole purpose of interop and a common radio network is maintained. Also if a chase starts on the east side it does nto automatically end when you hit the edge of the coverage area, just tower hops.

So to get back ontrack it all is going to depend on the permissions of the tkgrp (i.e. - State tkgrp, Co only, local, etc...) and if the tower that you are hearing the best on with your scanner is using a voice channel for that tkgrp!
