Default Centennial fire on SBM talkgroup

I listened to the Centennial Fire Department (Anoka County) fight a house fire Tuesday afternoon on my way home from work, but the talkgroup being used for what appeared to be Tac channel activity was 952 which is listed in the database (and my scanner) as an SBM Fire Department Admin channel. I checked another online database and it had the same info. Does anyone have any thoughts about this? I suppose the SBM Fire Department could have responded to a mutal aid request, but it isn't clear to me. And even if it were a mutal aid situation, why would the activity be on an admin talkgroup?

Strange, it seems some posts are not showing up. My previous posts were from the mobile site so maybe there's a problem there.

Back on topic...I would bet that Centennial and SBM fire were on that talkgroup for a training exercise rather than a real incident. I didn't hear this particular one, but I do know that SBM uses that talkgroup for training on a regular basis and it sometimes does sound like a real incident, many times they even have someone act as a dispatcher.

I posted a reply here today from my Crackberry that I wasn't seeing replies, and I don't see that reply here. Sounds like that may be true about the mobile service...

Thanks for the info. Interestingly enough, I was burned (no pun intended) last month by a training exercise also. I was nearing the end of my work day in Bloomington and I had my scanner on my desk. I thought I'd just turn it on while I worked on some e-mail and I heard about a shooting incident at Jefferson High School. Well, that obviously got my attention. It was packed with action including catching the gunman outside the offices and EMT's responding to wounded students in the cafeteria (or library, I forget). In any case, I drove home listening to the radio for news updates, etc. Finally, it dawned on me that school had let out a week or two earlier, so it was all training! Hats off to the First Responders - they practice like they mean it, and I'm glad they do. -Bruce
