Default Anoka CTY

Looking for a little info. I have a pro 106 with a RS 800 mhz ant. I have it programmed up with all the talk groups that I wish to hear. My question is why can I not hear the Anoka FD Tac channels A B C? Are the an onscene portable to portable only or is the signal just that weak? I would think being a county tac channel it should be a repeated channel and should come in great but doesent. Any info would help.

What tower are you listening to? If you are listening to the Anoka tower, they should come in just fine whenever they are in use. If you are listening to a different tower, I wouldn't expect to hear them unless the units working the incident are in an area where their radios would affiliate with that tower instead of Anoka. Also, these tac channels are not frequently in use. They are normally only used for incidents where mutual aid is involved.

Since your location is Hamel, I am guessing you are listening to Hennepin East or West. Anoka's County Fire Main is active on Hennepin most of the time because there is probably an Anoka Co unit somewhere in Hennepin Co with a radio on most of the time, especially since they do actually serve a small part of Hennepin Co. (Anoka-Champlin FD)

If they are using a tac channel for a fire somewhere like Andover, Ham Lake or East Bethel, I wouldn't expect to hear them on Hennepin.

If the fire is in Anoka, Champlin, Coon Rapids, or Fridley it's possible you will hear them on Hennepin, but you may not hear them.

The same goes for Hennepin talkgroups. If there's a fire out there in Hamel, I wouldn't expect to hear F Pool 1 on the Anoka tower here in Blaine. If the fire is in Brooklyn Park, I might hear it but only if someone's radio happens to affiliate with Anoka instead of Hennepin.

I have tried using the Anoka Simo tower with no luck then tried Henn East and West towers. The Anoka seem s to work the best for anoka talk groups. What got me was a fire in East Bethel today but I coulden't hear anything on the tac when the dispatcher said they were taking it to tac B. What you say makes sence that it is just too far away from me to hear. But I would have thought I would have goton at least some of it.
