Can anyone help me program my new BCD996xt scanner for the metro area??? Should I have all 58 sites programmed in for every system I'm trying to monitor?

Odds are you arent going to be able to pick up all 58 of those sites. I'd suggest putting in the closer ones, and that will speed up scanning too.

It really depends on what you are trying to listen to vs. how well you can receive the each tower you want to listen to.

This is a wonderful website that explains the "affiliations" of each talk-group to each tower. (meaning which towers are programmed to "listen" to which TG) Not sure if you will be able to access everything from that site, as it is now gone and can only be found at an internet archive site.

Being as you're in the Anoka system area, if it were me, I would program in site 1-002.

From there, you might try sites 1-001, 1-006, 1-009, 2-001 & 2-003. You may get traffic from these and you may be too far away. Hard to say until you try.

You may hear anywhere from a few, some or many of the TGs from the secondary sites I listed on your "home" system, the Anoka site 1-002. Easiest way to find that out is to "search" for TGs on that site vs. "scan" the TGs you've programmed.

Hope this helps.

Ignore my link. Most of the information that was there 5 days ago is inaccessible. Sorry to get your hopes up.....
