Yes, it is VHF high band. There are several frequencies in use. One is management, another for the ski school, another one still for the tubing hill. Also, the National Ski Patrol has the two VHF national assignments. I think F-1 and F-2 are carrier squelch. F-3 and F-4 have PL tone. I have only heard them use the first channel, however. They can also switch to Buck Hill Management channel.

Program in 154.570. I hope you are pretty close to Buck Hill when you are hoping to hear them.

You will need to be. Most likely they are simplex so you need to be very close. The ski area I work at is small, about the same size as Beck Hill, and we are simplex.

Tom,

Is that carrier squelch or are you hearing a PL tone? One way is F-1 and the other is F-3 for National Ski Patrol at Buck Hill.

Sorry Jim

I didn't have PL search turned on.

Its on now and I will post.

I also heard traffic on 154.57 that I think was related but haven't been able to confirm it was buck hill yet,

Tom

That is interesting. My notes show 94.8 hZ, but as I posted earlier they had each channel programmed twice. One carrier squelch and once with PL tone. Have you heard 151.625 used there yet? It might be too early in the season for that one, though.

Tom,

I just remembered that in addition to what has been discussed already, there is one more VHF frequency in use for the Ski School. I doubt that it is licensed, but I don't think I ever tracked down what it is. It is probably one of the real common 151 or 154 mHz frequencies. You might even want to check their webpage to see when the Ski School has classes and maybe you will hear them then.

Jim

Good job, Tom. I rather doubt that you will hear 155.220. They have it, but rarely use it. I also suspect that you will hear nothing on 151.625 until we get natural snow and they open the Tubing Hill. I don't recall the PL tone, though, at the moment for 161.625.
