Default Chisago County Trunked systems

Hello

I have an older Radio Shack trunking scanner that will not accept the re-banding process required. My question is why can't I at least listen to the 800 Mhz (851.600, 851.775, etc) core frequencies listed in frequency publications? I realize I would not be able to hear a both sides. Although Chisago county is not mentioned in the Allied Radio Matrix publication, Isanti County is mentioned and it is right next door. When I program those 800 Mhz frequencies into the scanner I get only a buzzing sound when the squelch is broken. Is this all I should expect to hear with a scanner in non trunked mode scanning trunked core frequencies?

Thanks

My first question is what model scanner do you have? If your scanner is not a Digital Scannner it will not work on the ARMER system not matter how you set it up. Chisago County is running on the ARMER System at this time.

If you could give the type of scanner that would help greatly.

It's a Radio Shack Pro 2052. It's not digital so that would explain why I can't hear anything. Didn't know Chisago was running digital. New scanner is required. Thanks.

kc0wkp, we are only 13.3 miles apart as the crow flies. We could talk simplex maybe 146.520? I have many questions about scanning these trunked frequencies.
Thanks

once you get used to all of this fancy digital stuff, you can put that 2052 back into service with a couple modifications and use it for UniTrunker. It;s a ways down the road though...

Q: Is it Mac compatible?
A: No. Drive your hybrid down to the store and get a real computer.
