That's one frequency in the Lee Co Public Safety trunked system. According to the info in the RRDB, that isn't necessarily a control channel and is likely a voice channel.

If your scanner is a trunktracking scanner, you need to program the Lee Co system in as a Motorola Type II 800 system - Add all the frequencies listed (five of them including the one above). You have to make sure and program it in as a trunked system and add the talkgroups you want to hear.

The RRDB indicates that Tupelo FD is on that system.

So it all depends on these things:
1. Your scanner is a trunktracking scanner that can scan Motorola Type II systems.

(if your scanner is a trunking scanner at all, then it will be able to do this)

2. You will have to program the system in using the details in the RRDB, using the instructions from the manual for your scanner.

3. You'll have to program in the talkgroups that you want to hear.

I just responded since nobody else has. I don't live in MS, and I'm sure somebody else will be able to aid you further should you need assistance.

You may want to include what type of scanner you have in your next post so somebody can tell you for sure if you can program that system in or not.

Mike

Scannerman, what model scanner do you have?

Short answer is no.... Listening to just one frequency out of the trunked system's frequencies will not work. Because part of a conversation may be on 856.9875 and then another part of the conversation can end up on 859.2625 etc. There are 10 frequencies for Lee County system.

If you have a NONTRUNKING scanner, you could techinically program in all 10 freqs and scan them (of course locking out the control channels) but you'll end up hearing EVERYONE. You won't have any way of seperating tupelo fire dept from the public works crews, or lee county sheriff or any one else who uses the system. This is why you'll need/want a trunktracking scanner.

Tell me what scanner you have and I'll help determin what you can do with it.
