new guy..
hey ya'll, I'm new here. Just got a new scanner a Radioshack Pro-164.
I'm on the Lauderdale/Clarke Co line just off I59 listening mostly to Laud.SO and MPD. Occasionally i get Clarke SO. I'm trying to find out how to pick up the MHP with the new MWIN system.
I'm still learning the controls of the 164 to get it all set just right.
I'm open to all comments and suggestions of how to make things work like theyshould.
Thanks for your help in advance.!

Welcome in and hi. Firstly the bad news.. MWIN has not built out that far yet. It currently extends from the Gulf Coast to the Highway 84 corridor, with a strip up Highway 49 and I-55 to Jackson. Once it builds out to the I-20 corridor you will be able to hear it once its operational in that region. Now for the good news.. Currently MHP is still using VHF Low band in simplex mode. You will be able to monitor Dispatch with no issues at all, but will only hear the Mobiles if they are relatively close to you. If you can set up an external antenna youll get better reception. Have fun and any thing you need help with, feel free to ask.

DL the software packages they make it a LOT easier to deal with... Also once your used to the scanner, and its features, you can help verify all the information for your area. Check out Software for RadioShack PRO-series (PRO-92, 93, 95, 96, 97, 99, 163, 164, 106, 197) and GRE PSR-series (PSR-500, 600, 300, 400) scanners

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but I'm afraid there's another piece of bad news that Milf didn't mention, and that's the fact that the MSWIN system is digital, and the Pro-164 won't receive digital.

OOPS did forget to point out that the MSWIN is 700 MHz P-25. At least he will be able to monitor everything else, and by the time that MSWIN is implemented fully can upgrade to a digital capable scanner. By then there will be even better models out.

Considering the current models out now, personally, I find it hard to imagine what a 'better model' could possibly do...

Milf, I just wanted to add my thanks to you and the other's for providing the info on the MSWIN system. All that is still a bit foreign to me, and there's NO way I'd be able to program the MSWIN system in by hand, but the work you've all done, along with Win500 makes it a snap to load.
Thanks again!

I just submitted to feed Clarke Co, MS. SO and Quitman PD. Its pretty slow usually but it picks up well.
I'm half way btw Meridian and Quitman so i figured i'd fill the empty hole.
**also, whoever is feeding the Laud Co stream. THANKS! I got the Emergency Radio app on my iPhone to listen while i'm at work and that is how I found RR.com.

About the MWIN.. its a job but a labor of love.. I love doing this! I learn all the time from setting it up in the db.. this and the TVRTRS... and a lil bit on LWIN.... There are still afew sites that we have not found yet, and a couple that have changed that are being researched... As new data comes in I get it set.... As for live feeds.. AWESOME.. the more the better. I hope to have my Garland County AR one up this wknd.
