Default Stupid Scanner Questions

!. I've been using a pro-2052 and radio commander to capture talk group id's.......about one in ten or so come up in the tens of thousands range. (30582 or even up in the 50000+) There seem to be no voice transmissions associated with these, and I was wondering what these were?????.......
2. In the Scanners that have Alpha displays, are these displayed automagically or do you have to enter a tag for the talk group id yourself ? Or do some work auto and some "manually".
If it's a mix which ones display automatically?

to the best of my knowledge any alpha tag will be required to be entered manually.

about the odd TG's im not really sure im still new to the world of trunking, but I've noticed on my local system we get a time burst on the same TG 3 minutes before every hour, maybe what you are noticing is something like that..... but thats just speculation...

Happy Scanning....

You must enter the alpha tags yourself.

What trunked system is it that you are hearing the odd transmissions on? Is it a silent transmission or some sort of "data burst"?

It's the Lee county Public Safety system both the saltillo and tupelo transmitters. It's a Motorola Type 2 Smartzone system.
