You hear the units that are in your area on all talk groups.

The stock antenna works great with my BCD996XT.

Here in Oak Grove I pick up towers from Collins, Ellisville south to Poplarville and Wiggins. And from Foxworth to Mulberry

Jones County Getting new TRS system
I have been hearing a lot of Tech traffic on 10005 on the Ellisville site in the past week. Maybe they are working on getting Jones county on MSWIN.

Certainly possible. One thing most anyone can do that's in range of the Jones north tower, is periodically search 769-775 MHz for any new control channels. Assuming the upgrades to the tower are going to be on the 700 band. Doesn't require a digital scanner to search/find a control channel either. Just one that can tune that frequency range.

In order to hear any TG on any site on any mult-site system, not just MSWIN, there has to be at least one radio affiliated to said TG on the site(s) in question. This is why you need to scan every tower that you're in range of to maximize what you can hear. Installing and using an external antenna is best to maximize this as well.

Will the control channel sounds like the current analog MOT system?

No. Naturally 9600 baud is going to sound different(faster) than 3600 baud. All mainstream CC's have their own unique and easily identifiable sound.

Heck if your that close to the north tower site, drive by it every chance you get. Especially during daylight hours if possible. See if any WCC or Motorola vehicles and/or trailers are there. Stop and ask questions too if you do see anybody. Most of those guys are pretty nice actually. At the very worst they'll just nicely ask you to be on your way.

Do some of that "Journalism stuff"

Ah ok that makes sense. 105 seems to propagate pretty well when conditions allow. Many actual frequencies will bleed onto adjacent freqs. too in GRE scanners. They don't have the best selectivity attributes.

769.940625 didn't make much sense at all, but who knows what the Jones North tower will end up with once it does come online

No clue why but I sure am hearing a good bit more traffic on MED-COM than ever before this week. (which is pretty much never)

Not just from someone passing through the area either but actual medical calls and several of them.

Maybe finally they got all the hospitals/TC's/EMS online like all the other states with statewide systems have done... VIPER, Palmetto, AWIN, etc all have established, or are establishing systemwide "Trauma Nets/Med Nets". Even the SAFE-T has one sort of. Years ago before MSWIN was even a twinkle in HB's eye, they were planning a statewide trauma communications network. Tried to set up a "model" with the CMSEMSN system with repeaters in Jackson, Vicksburg, Meridian, and other locations using the MED 1-8 UHF freqs. It never caught on everywhere, as well as just too expensive for rural counties. Keep listening and maybe new TG's will start popping up for the hospitals?
