Exclamation My scanners have went silent for the city of St.Louis

A real newbie here to the scanning scene.Did the city go digital..?I have not heard the constant chatter from the city.I am at 44 and Hampton and heard all districts until a few days ago now--nothing-nada-zip.

Am i going to have to go digital to start picking up the city again..?

Excuse the newbie question.

According to the RR database:

Scanner Frequencies: St. Louis City Public Safety - 800 MHz (P25) Trunking System, St. Louis, Missouri

As of 3/02/09:
"Police appear to be nearly 100% on P25 system now. Fire, EMS, Public Works and other misc. agencies are still on the old system."

Looks like you definitely need to go digital... at least to hear the police.

Unhappy !!

the reason i got into scanning was the hear local PD districts.I did a quick search and the least expensive digital scanner i could find was 500+ and they all have warnings about a 'steep' learning curve.Which from my way of looking at it,they are tough to program.
Any suggestions..?Any good sites with good pricing.Very disappointed i have several very nice analog scanners now and for all intend and purpose for me they are useless.

Yes, there is a bit of a learning curve but if you use a computer to program it, it takes the bite of out it.
I will not attempt to keypad program my GRE PSR-500 although I know how to. I use Don Starr's program (Win500) and love it. (Too bad someone cant come up with a powerpoint presentation to guide newbies explaining how to program in a way that makes sense to someone with no experience).
