Default Confused

New to the whole scanning thing.

I'm a producer in the LUTV news department at Lindenwood Univ. in St. Charles. I bought myself a scanner (RS PRO-197) to use on the weekends, and having a little trouble setting it up.

I'm using WIN500 connected to the RadioReference database. I can get the St. Charles City police/fire and St. Peters Police talkgroups no problem.

I need County Sheriff, fire, and EMS, though. I don't see these listed on any system. Am I missing something?

Thumbs up

Hello and welcome to RadioReference!
I'm not a local but I did have a look at the Database here St. Charles County, Missouri (MO) Scanner Frequencies and Radio Frequency Reference and it looks like the agencies you are looking for are conventional (not trunked) so they will not show up when working in Win500's "trunked system" lookup. You will need to use the "conventional" lookup selection from the import tab's dropdown list. Sorry if my terminology differs from the Win500 menu, I am at work and don't have access to my copy of Win500, I'm working from a foggy memory here.....
I hope this helps some, check back and let us know, there are tons of very helpful folks here.

Thats correct, the Sheriffs office and the county Fire/EMS is under the conventional listings. Just remember to make sure you put the S.O. dispatch freq as P25. I think it does it automatically, but just double check.
